Dear Laura Humphrey;
For a 44 year old female, the ovarian functions won`t be as good and would result in a lower pregnancy rate
if you receive the IVF-ET treatment with your eggs. I think it would be a better option to receive the IVF-ET
treatment using donated eggs Korea does not have a system where you can commercially be provided with
a donor egg yet. If you wish to try IVF-ET in CLWH the recipient (you) must find the donor for the procedure.In Korea,
if you wish to use the oocyte donor program for IVF-ET, you, your husband, and the oocyte donor must visit together,
and a health screening must be preceded. If the screening result is normal, ovulation induction is possible and
it will take about 3 weeks for the oocyte donor to go through IVF-ET. You should come to the hospital with your husband
and the oocyte donor for the gynecologic examination, return to USA, and return during the next cycle and receive the
cryobanked embryo transfer.
The condition for the oocyte donor is that she must be under 35 and have the same blood type as your wife.
When you visit Korea for IVF-ET, the oocyte donor should bring the test results for FSH-LH E2, chest X-ray,
HBS antigen/antiHBS, rubella, VDRL, HIV, ABO&Rh, and TORCH. The visit should be scheduled 2,3 days before
the donor`s menstruation begins. The procedure will cost around $6000, and you will have to stay for about 3 weeks.
You can choose to stay at the CLWH residency.

Best Wishes,

Bum-Chae Choi, M.D., Ph.D
